Most recently, I’ve been hosting the Water Street Barn concerts in Shelburne Falls, MA., offering theatre workshops for the Massachusetts Hilltown communities. Until December of 2022, I was the Producer & Host - for 10 years - of Groovin’ on a Sunday, a monthly variety show at 53 Above & Don't Tell Mama, cabaret clubs in NYC. I've also had the pleasure of directing and coaching singer/actors - in-person and online.
A longtime student of Uta Hagen & the RSC voice coach, Cicely Berry, I turn to their styles when coaching actors & singers. I had many opportunities to explore & develop these practices with adults & teens at HB Studio, the Ed Theatre Program at NYU, the Speech Dept at Brooklyn College. I look forward to offering private & group Vocal & Acting Classes @ Water Street in '24.
When I was given a chance to direct a performance at NYU, I invited artists to bring a story or song in English or another language. The tales & songs were amazing & from them, we created a project called Patchwork: Stories, Songs & Children's Games From Around The World, a multi-lingual celebration of World Folklore. We traveled to theaters, outdoor festivals, & classrooms throughout New York City & at Soongsil University, Seoul, So. Korea. This pic was of the East River Theatre Co performing @ Tribeca Film Fest. All this work led to my teaching Theatre Arts at Brooklyn International HS where all of the students were recent immigrants & Ms Ann learned alot from her wonderful, creative students & colleagues!
